Crime prevention through environmental design principles



A Proper design and effective use of the built envrionment can reduce the incidence and fear of crime.



Four principles of CPTED are:

• Natural Surveillance

Placing small cameras along the crowded shopping streets which keep intruders under obervation. This particular technique can be channelled to put more people(obervers) near a potential crime area.

• Natural Access control

Relies on doors, fences, shrubs and other physical elements to keep unauthorised persons out of a particular place if they do not have a legitimate reason for being there.

• Territorial reinforcement

Clear boundaries between public and private areas achieved by using physical elements such as fences, pavement treatment, art, signs, good maintence and landscaping are ways to express ownership.

• Maintenance and mangement

With clear spatial definitions such as sub divison of space into different degress of public/semi-public/private areas and the raising of standards and expectations.This is known to be related to reduction in opportunitites for aberrant or criminal behaviour, such as vandalism.

Consequences of vandalism
An offence under the act to commit any act of vandalism, attempt to do any such act, or cause any such act to be done.
Upon conviction, the penalty is a fine not exceeding $2000 or imprisonment not exceeding three years and also corporal punishment of not less than three strokes and not more than eight strokes of the cane.

HEYYA! its been a long time since i blog,anw sec4s life sucks! it just keep stressing us on O'levels,after mid year,we still have to continue to study,one exam down,two more to go,how i just wish i could just take the exam now and get over with it!

haha yeah finally november programme is over! after sch,went to collect keys from mrs tay and unlock music room.had choir from 2.30pm-6.30pm.today the choir memders did their counting songs and o sifuni mungu dance steps.u must be thinking why i put "the choir members" and not"today,we did" because today i was sitting behind "ironing" my guys the ties for the korea trip.sit there was very boring.just had to hold the tie.did that for 45mins.than miss yee came in,did counting songs and o sifuni mungu,as we had to practice it because next mon is our sch open house so have to perform for them.after that,had a break,than the girls had their cummana so i ask the boys to go up to the 3rd floor to do child of god.not bad i was really impress by them! good job guys!(: than did one final reflection,wrap up,than dismiss them.than had sec 2 and 3s item.did minoi minoi and sigulempong which sounded quite bad.then had sec 3s item,than stay back to do our combine sec 3s leader items.
today did nothing much,it was just a choir and school day. after choir went back home.
tmr still hav meeting at PHS at 1pm.

tired confuse

finally another two more days,the november programme will be over.bad news is,two weeks of our hoilday is gone.and we have to start mugging at our notes soon alr as our o'level is comin up next year.time really travels very fast.next year,i am going to be sec 4 alr.
well today had lesson as per normal,slept almost the whole day cos i was really tired.and cough have not recovered yet i am a bit worried next wed i will be flying off to korea alr and i am still not in a good state of health.guess i really have to advoid fried and chill food.i still have homework to do but i dont feel like doing it,and i still have not prepare stuffs for the debate tmr for EL.it is so boring. if tmr doesnt have choir practice,i think tmr is gonna be a another sleepy and boring day for me.

lesson as per normal,today lesson were boring,i just slept throughout the whole physics lesson.i was very tired.dont know why.after that had maths,did a little bit of question than slept.recess than had EL.had debate and stuffs.after that,went to ava room to carry those files and piano back to the music room.then went with rachel,fion,tingying and chelyn to eat pizza hut.the service there is bad.serve drinks so long.anyway ate alr,i went off 1st as i have to to back to sch to have chem clinic.to my surprise,when i was on my way back,mr leow call me,the 1st thing he said was"surprise! guess who am i" than i was like mr leow! haha than i started laughing,his voice and his reaction was funny,than he ask me where am i than i said on the way alr.than he put down his phone.reach sch,went to libary and had the lesson till 4pm.was bored so decided to pei rina and johnathan to hougang mall cos they want to buy something.chat.then decided to walk back home cos it was early

finally,woke up early today,went to sch,1st lesson we had physics,did kinematics was boring,than after physics,had geog,geog was fun today,not so tiring and boring,did a bit of worksheet.after that,recess went concourse to break,than had EL.nothing much to say abt
had choir at the ava room,did counting songs,had great improvement,than did dance of the sugar plum faries,blessed peace and o sifuni mungu.did a little bit of dancing than ask the boys to stay back to do child of god,i was surprise,it sounded really quite good,i was very happy for the boys.than the girls had their cumana.than after that,our sec 3 leaders stay back to do our sec 3 combine leaders item sectional.

did not know that moving house could be so tiring and troublesome.and best part is i am moving just the other side/end of the road.which is still along the same road just that is on the other side.it took us 7 hours just to move the items.after that another one more hour to unpack the things.ok,shall not talk about moving house.yeah,11 more days and i will be off to korea.so excited.i still have not decided how much to bring to korea and to hong kong.
well,today went to sentosa to celebrate my cousin birthday,went there in the morning till afternoon,after that went home pack my things,and slept till 6pm.woke up,and went out to celebrate my grandmother birthday.well today not in the mood to blog.

woke up at 7.25am,it was very late,took a quick bath and rush off to sch.reach sch at 7.45am,just on time,was surprise that i can make it on time.had physics,it was quite ok,today was not really as dry as other other physics lessons.did revision on chapter 1.than did worksheet.after that,had maths lesson,did quartiles and percentile.it was quite ok.than recess,me,frankie,JL, and mason went to macs to eat,i did not ate as i wanted to save money.went back to sch,and had geog,it was very boring,did map reading again,i slept in class,mr ong called me to wake up.after that,had history,it was interesting.this is the 1st time i really pay attentive to history lessons,usually i will be sleeping or day-dreaming in class.after that,went to meet the st gabs to buy choir stuffs,went to golden mile,and city hall,went around hunting for choir stuffs for like 5 hours,and we only bought two items.had lots of laughter and lame jokes.kept on laughing at the stupid face paint,china brand sucks!.went to city hall,sat down at burger king and discuss choir stuffs and chat about funnly teachers we had in our sch. chat till 6.20pm,than took train to hougang,than walk home.

tired,bored

woke up late today,woke up at 7.10am,quickly bath.ate breakfast and rush to school.met shannon along the way to school,chat along the way too.reached school at 7.45am,went to assemble at the parade square,than went back to class and had maths lesson.15 min of lecturing by mrs chang.this was the 1st time she really scolded us for not bringing our books and not doing our homework.after maths had,chemistry,did nothing much,mr leow start on a new chapter.recess than geog,it was very boring,did map reading and stuffs for one whole hour.after geog had chemistry again(extra lesson),this time round,we went to the lab and did a "bomb bag" experiment.it was fun and interesting where samuel and lin junn desmonstrate how does a bomb bag "explode" than after that,each pair was given another bomb bag,but this time round,we gonna cut the bomb bag and separate the mixtures into different test-tube.did practical till 1pm.went down to the canteen ate maggie mee than went to music room for choir.did Osifuni mungu dance steps again,than about 2pm,miss yee came in,did counting song which sounded quite okay,than did o sifuni mungu dance steps again.than the boys had child of god.i was surprise,it sounded quite good as this was the 1st time we did after our exam. than the girl their dance than we had our leaders meeting.
tmr still have to go to school early in the morning,but after that, we are going out to buy our our stuffs for choir day camp

so tired,woke up so early in themorning just go to sch.people are having holidays but we still need to go to school for extra lessons.woke up at 6.55am.bath atebreakfast.and rush off to sch.we are suppose to meet at 7.45am in the parade square.saw abilgail at the bus stop,than debra called saying that fionella scared her that she must reach school by 7.20am,i was laughing away.after that took bus 107,and just we were about to alight at the interchange,i realised that sherman took the same bus as us,than went off together,than suddenly we saw rachel walking toward hougang mall,than we decided to wait for her,than go off to sch together too.reach achool at 7.30pm,played psp for a while in the canteen,than assemble at the parade square,than went back to class.today lesson was quite ok.chemistry was ok,did correction and did some chemical calculation.after that we had geog,but mr ong was on mc,so mr koh came in to our class and gave us this year o' level question to do.but 3/3 of our class did not really do the question,they were either sleeping orplaying around it more of like free-period.after that,had recess which was dumb,nothing to do,just went to concourse to break for a while,than went back classroom and had maths lesson.suddenly i dont know why i got headache suddenly,the feeling was like"whdvawhdb"the whole maths lesson my brain was like"pain"cannot think of anything.after that ended school,decided to go home and rest,reached home at 12.10pm.online,played psp,ate lunch,did homwork and sleep.

woke up at 7.45am today,and kept thinking whether should i go to east coast park to cycle.so after 10min,i decided to go and cycle.change clothes,get ready my stuffs,left the house at8.30am.my dad bully me,he ask me to pilliar him to east coast park.and i did it.i was surprise.after that cycle for 1hr,met up with my cousin at macs.and just as i was abt to park my bicycle,i got birdshit on my hand! i was like,"wtf" i quickly went to the toilet and wash.it was sick and disgusting,whitsh in colour.after that chat a bit with my cousin than cycle back to my house,bath and went out to have my breakfast.ate mee pork.ate already went to buy my cupboard after that went back to my house and change,went out to hougang interchange to meet jingren and dezmond,went to play basketball than walk back to hougang interchange to meet elena.haha,on our way back to the interchange,i prank on her saying that we all going to jingren house,than she was like screaming away and stuffs.it was funny.after that went to sweetalk bought milktea than walk to hougang sports complex gym,was tired but fun.after that went to ave 8 the macs and have a drink with them,had lots of fun.than elena ,the clumsy fellow,lost her wallet,than dezmond have to go and ask the staffs members whether they got see her wallet,me and jingren go and search her bag but could not found anything.luckily,elena found her wallet,the staffs found it at the toilet,than me and jing ren was like,"wth"haha. we continue chatting,suaning elena,and shooting ice/water till 6pm.after that walk back home.

bored tired,dont know what to do?

yesterday was a great and bad day for me.the bad thing was,i just got a hair cut and it is too short.now i look like a idiot.the great thing was went out with dezmond,jingren,esmond,elena and debra to watch HSM3 at orchard.
woke up at 10am,ate breakfast and went to yio chu kang to get my haircut as my dad and grandparents complain that my previous hair was too long and messy so they ask me to cut my hair.so i went.after that took a train down to orchard to meet dezmond and friends.walk to cineleisure to watch HSM3,bought tickets and went to kfc to eat,talk abt each other schools camps they went and how tough they were.after that went back to the cinema to watch HSM3,well it was good,very interesting.people who have not watch it,u should watch it! i bet your wont regret.after the show,elena realised that she lost her phone.than went back to cinema,left her contacts there and stuffs.after that went to play acarde,played basketball with dezmond it was fun.than after that walk to paragon,went to soup spoon cos debra was hungry.went there talk,crap out lame jokes.after that walk back to cineleisure and guess what,elna found her phone,she was so happy.and she went crazy again.
and it was already 6.30pm it was late as i have to rush to bedok for family dinner.so we all went off together,board the sane train except elena cos she was living in yishun so took different direction.
reach bedok at 7.15pm,i was late,i am suppose to reach there at 7pm,but never mind.after dinner,brought my family to see my new house.
sad,next week moving house already.and i have not pack any single thing yet!

woke up at 8.45am today,suppose to meet ftingying ,rachel,chelyn,fion and clarissa for breakfast at macs but my grandma force me to eat the foodshe bought for me,ended up going there at 9.30am.went there slack for a while then went off to school.had choir at 10am,did O sifuni mungu dance steps.i had to do athan solo part as athan was not around.was having flu and it was hard for me to sing.after that did one counting song,blessed peace,african noel,sigulempong.after choir,went to help the girls carry the keyboard down to the ava room.after that saw the girls dance,then moved back the mirrors back to ava room 1.after that walk back home,reached home at 4.30pm.was very bored,did nothing till 6pm.fell asleep from 6pm till 7pm.woke up online and chat.

woke up at 6.45am today,it was kinda late.went to sch today,had lesson as usual was very boring today in sch.had Emaths lesson,mrs chang teach us a new topic.after that geog,mr ong taught us map reading which was super boring and not interesting.after that,had recess than EL.EL was like......slacking did nothing much.after that from 11.30am-12.30pm,we had free time.physics teacher did not came into our class so we play games in class.played murderer till 12.30pm.after that went to have lunch then went for choir.
today choir was not toobad,the sound today was quite good.great improvment from previous choir practice.but i still think that we can still do better(: today did o sifuni mungu and sing out dance steps.it was quite alright execept some of the boys as i pulled them out for tutoring.after that miss yee came in,did blessed peace,it sounded nicer as before after that did on dance of the sugar plum faires,which was not too bad,just that tenor need to be more attentive to the 1st notes.after that,the girls had cumana(sorry dont know how to spell) than after that had sec 3 speical items,than counting song the dance steps.haha it was so funny.

today was so happy with myself,woke up at 6.35am,quite early,bath,ate breakfast,rush off to sch,i was not late,after morning assembly,it kinda screwed up this morning during assemblyand i am glad that mr anba did not catch me for long hair.after assembly,had flea market,it was boring,our class took a private class photo by using "daryl"s goh phone camera"after that the rest went to shop around,than went back to class,while i have to stay back at the SL stalls and tend it till 11.30pm.it was very boring,i just sat there and ask pupils to buy our stuffs.total we earned $50.50.after that,went to concourse to break with gary and crew,syafiq,frankie,shao kiat,sherman and zi ying.after that,went to watch the dance competiton,haha some was nice some was funny,after that went back to concourse to break again with nigel,jason,sherman and zi ying.break for a while than decided not to break alr.went to macs to have out lunch,after that,me and sherman went to vivo city to findrachel,debra,chelyn.
went to vivo,went to "page one" bookstore.found lots of interesting books there,spent there abt 1hr.after that went to rooftop and slack.sherman went off.after that went downstairs the playground slack.then went inside the mall to find food,went to basement and everybody bought food except me.cos i wanted to save money.rachel wanted to tempt me by buying food to eat.after that,took train back to kovan and walk home.
now slacking and blogging,crap,still have not finsh the counting songs dance,miss yee is gonna kill us.
